LETTER FROM THE DEAN

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences, the academic heart of Lawrence Technological University. It is my privilege to serve as the Dean of the college. The college offers LTU students a journey of learning and discovery into the humanities and the social, natural, mathematical, and computational sciences; these are fundamental disciplines that underlie much of contemporary knowledge creation. As such, the college plays a pivotal role in Lawrence Tech’s continuing trajectory of excellence. The college not only provides a world-class education to its own undergraduates, but also imparts a liberal arts foundation for the undergraduate students in Lawrence Tech’s excellent professional schools of engineering, architecture, and business.

In addition to empowering students across the campus with critical thinking skills, creativity, technological competence, communication skills, and cultural appreciation, the faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are actively engaged in original, path-breaking research in fields as wide ranging as biological sciences, chemistry, computational sciences, history, mathematics, and psychology to name a few. Because of this wide ranging expertise, the various disciplines often converge in unique and unexpected ways resulting in a vibrant intellectual environment

The various academic units within the college are staffed by faculty and staff whose main objective is ensuring the success of all students on Lawrence Tech’s campus. I am privileged to interact daily with faculty and staff whose enduring commitment to help students is palpable.

On behalf of the entire college, I invite you to learn more about the College of Arts and Sciences by exploring the website. I expect that you will discover something here that will motivate you to come visit our beautiful campus and begin a journey of life-long learning.

DEAN COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

  • Both my father and brother are alumni of Lawrence Tech and told me about the great experiences they had with the school. The hands-on approach the school takes along with the small class sizes were big influences in my decision to attend Lawrence Tech.

    MOLECULAR AND CELL BIOLOGY

  • When I graduated from high school, I actually had 46 college credits at Oakland Community College so I had planned to go there. But my mom encouraged me to apply to LTU because she knew it was a great school. I didn’t think I would get in, but here I am!”

    Mashia Kellum

    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

  • “I was seeking to get the university experience but on a much smaller scale, and LTU was the perfect fit for me!”

    Katelyn Allen

    MOLECULAR AND CELL BIOLOGY

  • Soccer and basketball were always a big part of my life growing up. My father is a professor at another university in Michigan, and I had an opportunity to walk onto their basketball team and attend tuition-free. But after being offered a soccer scholarship at LTU and visiting campus, I knew it was where I belonged.
